PC - Quake 4 - Quake 4 Gets amBX Enabled Philips announced today that they have signed an agreement with id software to provide an amBX mod for Quake 4. Now, those with the amBX peripherals can experience custom light, rumble and wind effects to help enhance the experience. PC - Quake Live - Id To Use GNi Infrastructure For Quake Live WorldsinMotion: "Id Software announced that it will use GNi's 'Infrastructure as a Service' (IaaS) hosting for the forthcoming online release of Quake Live, its free-to-play multiplayer PC first-person shooter based on the Quake Arena games.

Formerly known as Quake Zero, Quake Live and its corresponding community will be available through Quakelive.com, offering friends lists and communication, player skill matching, sponsored events and tournaments, stats tracking, and the game itself through the site. The game is currently in its Beta testing phase."

PC - Quake Live - Next-gen Quake Arena game shelved Eurogamer writes: "Id Software is no longer planning to create a new, next-generation Quake Arena game after the launch of Quake Live.

"We did decide for a lot of reasons that we wanted to just push hard for doing Doom internally," technical director and co-founder John Carmack told the audience at QuakeCon 2008 this week.

"The door's not completely shut for another Quake project, and I would say that probably the success of Quake Live will determine whether we do another Quake project," he said."
