Hidden secrets and Easter Eggs where staples of the 8 bit era and it looks like Mega Man 9 has one of it's own. Yesterday afternoon in Capcom's own forums, Senior Community Manager Seth Killian left a series of cryptic posts detailing a single undiscovered secret, still at large..."

"To improve your gaming abilities with MegaMan, as said previously, you have to learn from your mistakes and get used to all the tricky and complex parts of the level. For instance, Jewel Man will have spawning green bricks in the second half of his stage and you will have to learn where the blocks spawn since they will easily trick you, and more than once. Another example is Concrete Man's fake blocks, if you don't notice one and you're unlucky, you'll fall into a spike killing you as soon as you touch it."

Anyway, the wait is finally over... "September" is no longer the catch-all answer for a release date for Mega Man 9... and, as it happens, Xbox Live Arcade isn't even getting it in September at all...

While it's only been a few months since we first heard about Capcom's retro Mega Man 9, it feels like we've been waiting forever. Well the wait is nearly over, as the first and second releases of Mega Man 9 hit next week! September 22nd will see the game show up via WiiWare, which should make the Weekly Wii Update a little more exciting than usual. Then on the 25th the game will appear on the PlayStation Network. Finally, after weathering nearly a week and a half of insufferable taunting, Xbox 360 owners will be able to download the Xbox Live Arcade version on October 1st. Looks like it's WiiWare for me!

So now that we've gotten those dates out of the way, show us the boxes!
He’s involved with all things community, primarily at the Capcom Unity blog and jaw-droppingly hardcore Evo tournaments. Far more interesting than that, however, are his tales of Street Fighter hustling at arcades, infiltrating E3 and harassing the company enough to finally give him a job. See kids, you too can live the dream. ...

They're fun to write, easy to read and get the job done in a fraction of the time it'd take you to barf all that information out in non-list form.

But some topics demand a more in-depth touch, and the idea-nauts at GR are more than capable of delivering wordy, researched material for those with enough time to digest it. ...

"Capcom is properly merchandising Mega Man 9 with two soundtracks, and… energy drinks? Having video game themed beverages isn't a first for Capcom. They did it for Sengoku Basara 2 and they are doing it again for Mega Man. This month in Japan you can buy a Rockman E-Tank Sports Drink for 137 yen ($1.25). The can even looks like an energy drink so it's easily identifiable in the vast soft drink space at convenience stores."

"In Asia they take their food and drink merchandising strategies seriously. Pop star-branded Pringles, Final Fantasy soda, you name it. This Energy Tank energy drink for Mega Man 9 is pretty much the best game-to-beverage promotion ever, though."

So far, games downloaded from Nintendo's Wii Shop Channel have remained split into two distinct categories; classics from the Virtual Console and all-new efforts on WiiWare. But Capcom is throwing a welcomed wrench into the system with the fall release of Mega Man 9, a title that mixes old and new – namely, a classic 8-bit graphical presentation with ground-up levels and play mechanics.

"Additionally, we've got some news to report. First, Capcom has confirmed to IGN that Mega Man 1 and 2 will be coming to the Virtual Console soon. And second, Mega Man 9 will also release for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network respectively. No, it's not a WiiWare exclusive, but nevertheless, it's going to make an excellent addition to the libraries of all three consoles. "
It's been 11 years since the last numbered entry, and for fans tired of the numerous spin-offs, 9 is an ironically refreshing take on gaming's favorite robot assassin. We say ironic because, well, it's technically a huge step backwards. There's no angle, no new trick to the gameplay, it's a straight-up NES game with robot masters designed by series mastermind Keiji Inafune. Behold: ...

When we got official word that the game would be coming to WiiWare, Capcom's Christian Svensson commented, "I will also say, NP [Nintendo Power, the original source of the news] only has part of the story. More to be learned later." All signs pointed to the inevitable presence of the game on Xbox live Arcade and PlayStation Network, which was confirmed yesterday via a Capcom E3 roster.
